Duties and Responsibilities • Supervise the behaviour of students in the classroom, on school grounds, and on educational trips; • Conduct daily inspection of the learners to ensure that they do not bring illegal substances school; • Plan and develop an engaging, course of study in the classroom, adhere to educational best practices and school curriculum guidelines; • Design and deliver individual lesson plans in one or more academic, technical, or vocational subjects using a variety of teaching techniques and appealing to various learning styles; • Preparation of schemes of work for the term aligned to the syllabus and submit to the HOD, Quality Assurance and Head of School for approval; • Preparation of syllabus coverage reports and submit them to the HODs for review; • Prepare materials for lessons, assignments, and tests; evaluate, correct, and grade student performance; • Discuss academic difficulties or behavioural problems with students as they arise, escalate when further intervention is required; • Monitor students’ progress throughout the year and evaluate preparedness for transition to the next level as appropriate; • Communicate progress and concerns with tact and professionalism to parents and, as appropriate, other faculty, staff, and/or Head of School; • Build and maintain positive relationship with leaners, parents and colleagues; • Enforce safety and security standards for students, staff, and visitors; • Maintain required paperwork for individual student files, attendance and incident reports, and other necessary records; • Monitors halls, study periods, and lunchrooms with other faculty and staff; • Participates in faculty meetings, educational conferences, in-service opportunities, workshops, and other training seminars; • Ensure that the learners adhere to the school rules and regulations; • Ensure that the learners have to well-groomed and presentable; • Be the link between the learners, school management and the parents on matters communication, discipline and academics; • Timely communication of the school calendar and upcoming events to the relevant stakeholders; • Organize and coordinate class excursions, events and trips; • Participate in the coordination and coaching of learners in extra-curricular activities; • Consultation with parents on cases of indiscipline and deterioration of performance so as to ensure the due process is followed before a decision or recommendation is arrived; and • Any other responsibilities assigned to the jobholder by the supervisor from time to time Qualifications • Bachelor’s Degree in Education (Science) from a recognized institution. • Must be registered with Teacher Service Commission (TSC), and Professional development qualifications in Edexcel /CAIE as applies. • Minimum of 2 years’ relevant experience in handling A-Level.
